KAAE workshop resource kit winner Katelyn Meiwes!

Katelyn Meiwes, agricultural education teacher and FFA advisor at Altoona-Midway Middle/High School, came to our workshop at the Kansas Association of Agricultural Educators to find out more about Seed to STEM. Sharon Thielen at Kansas Corn had made Meiwes aware of the workshop. “I’m open to new ideas and learning,” Meiwes said. “I wanted to check it out.”

Meiwes plans to integrate Seed to STEM’s student-centered, inquiry based learning into her classes. She said, “It will work with my intro class and even my Ag mechanics. I could tie this lesson into animal science, too—it is versatile!”

Meiwes liked the active nature of the Seed to STEM workshop. “I like that this allows us to get up and moving and to really try things out. That way, when we do the lab with a class, there aren’t surprises. I have a better idea of what to expect and what can happen when I do the lab with students.”

Meiwes was the lucky winner of a supply kit to help her implement the lessons in her classes. You, too, can get free supplies, along with great science lessons, if you attend this summer’s Seed to STEM workshop. Register now!
